Project Overview

Share the story behind this project. Describe the vision, the challenges, and the beautiful results that make this space unique.

Completed in 2021, the Queen & Collins redevelopment reconnects the former ANZ office tower with three neighbouring heritage buildings: the former ES&A Bank, Melbourne Stock Exchange and Safe Deposit Building.

The design replaces the conventional enclosed corporate entrance with a network of semi-open lanes, courtyards and small public squares. Bridges and stairways connect spaces across several levels, creating new routes through the precinct.

Inspired by the site’s Venetian Gothic architecture, the material palette includes marble, terrazzo and coloured glass, complemented by pink lanterns and carefully framed views. Kerstin Thompson Architects

BVN redesigned the workplace areas, while KTA developed the podium and ground-level public spaces. The redevelopment also upgraded end-of-trip and parking facilities. Armitage Jones
